A tour de force in comic showmanship, Marie Jones’s legendary award-winning play will explode once again into the Lyric Theatre where it all began almost 25 years ago. But this time it’s unlike you’ve ever seen it before as, with the help of technology – and a host of famous stars – Stones in his Pockets will be brought to life in a new way. 

Adrian Dunbar (Line of Duty), Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones, original cast of Stones in His Pockets)Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls), Tommy Tiernan (comedian / Derry Girls) and Tara Lynne O’Neill (EastEnders / Derry Girls) are amongst the stars of Northern Irish screen to become extras in this production which centres around a Hollywood blockbuster being filmed in Ireland. News: Stars Announced For The Marlowe Sessions

Stars including Elliot Cowan, Thalissa Teixera, Jack Holden and Adrian Schiller announced for The Marlowe Sessions, Re-imagining The Pioneer of Elizabethan Theatre

This June, the Malthouse Theatre in Canterbury will bring together a cast of leading expert Elizabethan actors and some of the biggest names in British theatre for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of the works of Christopher Marlowe. The Marlowe Sessions is a true reimagining of Elizabethan Theatre’s enfant terrible.

Eleanor Wyld (Misfits, Thirteen, Hamlet) and Adrian Schiller (The Last Kingdom, Dr Who, Victoria), will rise to the challenge of the lead roles of Abigail and Barabbas in Marlowe’s classic The Jew of Malta. The on-stage pairing, who respectively played Jessica and Shylock in the Sam Wanamaker Globe Theatre’s acclaimed 2021 production of The Merchant of Venice, this time taking on the parts widely accepted to have provided Shakespeare with the blueprint for the original courtroom drama. News: Peter Forbes joins the cast of National Theatre’s Jack Absolute Flies Again

Rehearsals have started for Jack Absolute Flies Again, a riotous and comedic new version of Sheridan’s The Rivals, co-written by Richard Bean (One Man, Two Guvnors) and Oliver Chris (Emma) that will play in the Olivier theatre from 2 July.

July 1940. After an aerial dog fight, Pilot Officer Jack Absolute flies home to win the heart of his old flame, Lydia Languish. Back on British soil, Jack’s advances soon turn to anarchy when the young heiress demands to be loved on her own, very particular, terms. News: Special Measures Theatre present Dictating to the Estate

Special Measures Theatre has announced a two-week site-specific performance of Dictating to the Estate, a documentary play about the events leading up to the catastrophic fire at Grenfell Tower.

This year will mark the 5th anniversary of the fire and it is against this backdrop that Dictating to the Estate analyses this wholly preventable tragedy. Following two readings at the Playground Theatre in early 2019, and two free online readings, the script has incorporated the feedback from local residents and survivors to produce a play that aims to reflect their experiences. Simon Friend Entertainment has announced first casting for a brand-new stage adaptation of The Best Exotic Marigold HotelHayley Mills (Pollyanna, The Parent Trap, Whistle Down the Wind), Paul Nicholas (Jesus Christ Superstar, BBC 1’s Just Good Friends, Eastenders), and Paula Wilcox (Thames TV’s Man About The House, ITV’s Coronation Street) will star in this feel-good tale of love, adventure, and starting-over which begins a major new UK tour this autumn.

Written by Deborah Moggach who now adapts her bestselling novel 2004’s These Foolish Things for the stage, it having previously inspired the BAFTA and Golden Globe-nominated film. Hampstead Theatre is delighted to announce the full cast and creative team for the world premiere of The Fellowship, an electrifying, hilarious and gripping new play by Roy Williams.  Directed by Paulette Randall, The Fellowship will run from 17 June until 23 July 2022.

News: casting announced for Girl From The North Country tour

Full casting for the first Dublin and UK Tour of Girl From The North Country has been announced. Written and directed by Conor McPherson with music and lyrics by Bob Dylan,  the production embarks on its first UK tour following an opening 5-week season at 3Olympia Theatre Dublin from 25 June 2022.

News: Royal Court reveal Priyanga Burford, Jake Davies and Siena Kelly in That Is Not Who I Am 

Priyanga Burford, Jake Davies and Siena Kelly have been cast in That Is Not Who I Am by Dave Davidson, directed by Royal Court Theatre Associate Director Lucy Morrison. The production will run from Friday 10 June 2022 to Saturday 16 July 2022 with press night on Thursday 16 June 2022, 7pm.

News: National Theatre reveal 2 new production and a tour

The National Theatre today announces two new productions, and the booking dates of two previously announced productions, to be performed on all three South Bank stages this Autumn, as well as the UK and Ireland tour of The Ocean at the End of The Lane.

Lyndsey Turner (Under Milk Wood) will direct Arthur Miller’s The Crucible in the Olivier theatre in September. A gripping parable of power and its abuse, this urgent new staging will see Brendan Cowell (Yerma) make his National Theatre debut as John Proctor alongside Erin Doherty (The Crown, My Name is Rachel Corrie) playing the role of Abigail. Further casting includes Fisayo Akinade, Rachelle Diedericks, Nick Fletcher, Karl Johnson, Gracie McGonigal, Matthew Marsh and Eileen Walsh

With set design by Es Devlin, costume design by Catherine Fay and lighting design by Tim Lutkin. Sound design by Tingying Dong (content design) and Paul Arditti (system design). News: Rodgers & Hammerstein: Some Enchanted Evening with  City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra

The golden age of musical theatre is coming to Saffron Hall this summer. Rodgers & Hammerstein: Some Enchanted Evening, will showcase many of the best love classics written by the award-winning song writing duo, composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II. 

For one performance only on Sunday 12th June 2022, Rodgers & Hammerstein: Some Enchanted Evening will feature City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Martin Yates and will be joined by stars direct from London’s West End.
