News: Westway Music – Celebrates Two Years of Releasing the Music of the Theatre

Westway Music are delighted to be celebrating two years in business, during which time the UK’s leading Musical Theatre music and film label has released albums, films and EPs by Samantha Barks, Kerry Ellis, Lee Mead, Jason Manford, Rachel Tucker, John Barrowman, Joe Stilgoe, Ramin Karimloo, Peter Jöback, Cassidy Janson, Tom Ball, The Choir Of Man and it’s first original cast recording with the hit West End musical My Sons A Queer (But What Can You Do?).

The label has also recently launched a live division, Westway Talent, producing concerts and events, including a regular Westway Sessions series in London, and representing more than thirty artists for their UK and international live concert touring.

Westway Music was created in 2021 by music agent Neil O’Brien (Neil O’Brien Entertainment) as a result of the impact of Covid 19 on the live touring business. Making concert films and albums with artists he represents, developed into a plan to create recording projects to compliment artists’ live shows. He was joined by former X Factor artist Rhydian Roberts and Rachel Agnew (ex-Sony BMG) to form a team of passionate, knowledgeable musical theatre specialists.

2023 saw the release of two critically acclaimed studio albums by West End stars Kerry Ellis and Rachel Tucker and over the next eighteen months will be releasing the following projects:

Choir Of Man
Olivier Award-nominated, worldwide smash and West End favourite The Choir of Man, released a six track Christmas EP on Westway, Christmas with The Choir of Man on Friday 1 December.
The EP is a must have for fans of the show and fans of Christmas! With classic Christmas songs including This ChristmasDriving Home for Christmas and The Christmas Song all given the incredible The Choir of Man treatment, and introducing a brand-new original song Spend the Rest of Christmas,the EP is a joyous and uplifting celebration for the holiday season

Tom Ball 
Winter Song – released 8th December and written by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy, accompanied by a stunning animated film by award winning director Callun Scott- Dyson. Tom is currently on a sell-out UK tour with The Overtones. His debut album, Curtain Call, will be released in March 2024 and features stunning songs from stage and screen including Feeling Good, Bring Him Home and Stand By Me as well as some exciting original songs.

Ramin Karimloo
Recently returned to the UK following an acclaimed eighteen month run on Broadway starring in Funny Girl.  Ramin will release a brand-new recording of ‘Pity The Child’ (Chess) in January and will commence recording of a new album of musical theatre songs in the New Year for release in November 2024.

Stephen Schwartz – Schwartz Songs
One of the world’s most popular songwriters, Stephen Schwartz is responsible for writing such hit musicals as Godspell, Pippin and the worldwide smash hit Wicked. He has contributed lyrics for a number of successful films, including Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt and Enchanted.  Schwartz has won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics, four Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards and has been nominated for six Tony Awards. He received the 2015 Isabelle Stevenson Award, a special Tony Award for his commitment to serving artists and fostering new talent. The Westway Sessions – The Class Of ‘24
Following three sold out seasons in 2023 at Piano Smithfield and a further season in 2024 at Crazy Coqs, a new series is being launched for 2024 featuring some of the best emerging talent in the West End.
