News: National Theatre completes the cast of The Effect

The National Theatre has revealed the full company currently in rehearsals for The Effect by Lucy Prebble (Succession), in association with The Jamie Lloyd Company. Joining the previously announced Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, The Lazarus Project) as Tristan and Taylor Russell (Bones and All, Waves) as Connie, are Michele Austin (Cyrano de Bergerac) as Dr Lorna James and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Tina Turner: The Musical) as Dr Toby Sealey.

Jamie Lloyd (Cyrano de Bergerac) returns to the National Theatre to direct this funny and intimate examination of love and ethics, set to play in the Lyttelton theatre this summer.

Hearts and minds racing, Connie and Tristan are falling for each other fast. But is their sudden and intoxicating chemistry real, or a side effect of a new antidepressant? As two young volunteers in a clinical drug trial, their illicit romance poses startling dilemmas for the supervising doctors.

With direction by Jamie Lloyd, set and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting design by Jon Clark, composition by Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante, sound design by George Dennis, movement direction by Sarah Golding and Yukiko Masui (SAY), fight direction by Kate Waters, intimacy co-ordination by Ingrid Mackinnon and casting by Alastair Coomer CDG and Chloe Blake.

The Effect will play in the Lyttelton theatre from 1 August, with press night on 9 August and a final performance on 7 October.
