News: cast announcements from Hampstead Downstairs

24 March – 29 April

Sea Creatures will star Geraldine Alexander (Oslo and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, National Theatre; Bridgerton, Netflix)as Shirley, Pearl Chanda (Three Sisters, Almeida; One for Sorrow, Royal Court) as George, Thusitha Jayasundera ([BLANK], Donmar; Stories, National Theatre) as Sarah and Grace Saif (13 Reasons Why, Netflix; The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Donmar) as Toni. 

They will be joined by Tom Mothersdale (Love and Other Acts of Violence, Donmar; Blue Water and Cold and Fresh, Lyric), Tony Turner (The Visit, National Theatre; This House, Chichester Festival Theatre/Garrick/National Theatre/UK tourand June Watson (As you like it, Soho Place; A Doll’s House Part 2, Donmar).

5 May – 10 June

Biscuits for Breakfast will star Boadicea Ricketts whose recent theatre work includes Addictive Beat (Boundless Theatre), She Ventures & He Wins (Young Vic) and East (King’s Head) where she was Offie nominated for Best Actress. Her television work includes Call theMidwife, Grantchester and Unprecedented: Going Forward. She will be joined by Ben Castle-Gibbs who has recently been seen in Frankenstein (Perth Theatre/ Belgrade Theatre/UK tour) and season 4 of the television show You.

16 June – 22 July

This witty new play stars Stephen Tompkinson as Samuel Beckett (Brassed Off, Drop the Dead Donkey, DCI Banks, Wild at Heart) and Andrew Lancel (The Bill, Coronation Street) as Harold Pinter. 

Stumped gives a wonderful insight into what the friendship between these two great men may have looked like. As well as being a beautiful tribute to their writing, the theatre of the absurd, and of course their love for the game of cricket.
